Our local officers deserve your support!
Friends of Flathead Law Enforcement
Supporting local law enforcement officers through community recognition, respect, and acts of appreciation
Our local law enforcement officers put their lives on the line serving all of us in the Flathead. Their agencies operate on a limited budget, doing the best they can with the monies allotted them. FFLE aims to foster community support for our officers by thanking them for their service.
Some of our projects will be as simple as sending “thank you” notes to each and every officer. We would also like to welcome newly hired officers, who incur unreimbursed, out-of-pocket expenses of $2000-$3000 for required personal equipment on their first day of employment, with a partial grant to offset these costs. We’d like to welcome them to our law enforcement community with a card of thanks and this small grant to show our community’s commitment to them.

Our officers put their lives on the line 24/7, patrolling and protecting us and all we hold dear in our community. Thanks to them, our safety and freedom is assured. Yet they and their families rarely receive the recognition and appreciation they deserve. Let’s let them know that in the Flathead, we value those who serve in local law enforcement!

Projects & Goals
Lend a hand!
On August 28, 2016, FFLE hosted its first project. Officers and families from Kalispell Police Department were treated to a picnic at the private lake cabin of one of our FFLE members. Kids and officers alike enjoyed a family day with barbecue, swimming, and boating on the lake.
FFLE members fully donated the food, supplies, and venue. It was a great way to kickoff our new nonprofit, which had been formally approved as a fund of the Flathead Community Foundation just days before. We hope to offer many similar activities for KPD and FCSO officers and their families in years to come. It’s a simple way we can give back to them on one day of the year, for their community service throughout the year.
Grants toward start-up expenses for newly hired officers, who incur $2,000-$3,000 in mandatory equipment (uniforms, duty pistol, duty belt, handcuffs, etc.) not reimbursed by their agency
College scholarship for children of local law enforcement officers. We’d like to support the families of our law enforcement officers by recognizing that their job affects not just the officers, but their spouses and families. We can thank them by establishing even a small scholarship fund for their children to attend FVCC or other higher education.
Needle-resistant duty gloves for patrol officers. On a daily basis our officers encounter suspects with needles, knives, and other dangerous items on their person or in their property. Officers can and do sustain needle stick injuries that put their health and that of their families at risk. We’d like to supply each and every officer in the Flathead with a pair of specially designed gloves to help protect from this daily threat. This will show officers that we recognize and appreciate the threats they face as they protect us.
Foster communication and support between the community and local law enforcement. We’d like to support the Citizens Academies offered annually by both KPD and FCSO as a free opportunity for citizens to learn about what local law enforcement does. These Academies provide a rich insight into the world of local law enforcement for those who benefit each day from it.
FFLE license plate. We’d like to have a special Montana Motor Vehicle Division license plate design that both contributes small donations to the FFLE Fund, and serves as a moving reminder to our law enforcement officers that their community supports their service.
